palm lines / simian line
Simian line meaning in palmistry
A simian line is a single crease running straight across the palm, in place of the separate heart line and head line most hands have. In palmistry it is read as feeling and thinking fused into one: intensity, single-minded focus and an all-or-nothing way of caring about things. It is uncommon, and tradition treats it as distinctive rather than good or bad.

Look at the upper half of your palm. Most hands show two horizontal creases: the heart line on top and the head line beneath it. With a simian line there is only one, running edge to edge without a gap.
Partial versions exist too. If your heart and head lines are joined by a strong bridge, or merge for part of their length, palm readers call it a partial or incomplete simian line and read a milder version of the same traits.
What a simian line traditionally means
Because the line for feeling and the line for thinking are one and the same, palmistry reads a personality with no gap between the two.
- Intensity
- Read as someone who commits completely — to people, projects and opinions — and finds half-measures difficult.
- Focus
- Read as the ability to lock onto one thing for a very long time, sometimes at the cost of noticing anything else.
- Loyalty
- Read as a friend who is fully in: slow to let people close, and fiercely reliable once they are.
- On one hand only
- On the dominant hand it is read as a trait you have grown into; on the other hand, as one you started with and may have softened.
- On both hands
- Rarer still, and read as the same traits turned all the way up.
How rare is a simian line?
A complete simian line on one hand appears in a small minority of people, and on both hands in far fewer. Palm creases are set by how the hand folds as it forms, so the pattern is simply one of the ways a hand can be arranged.
Is a simian line lucky?
Different traditions disagree: some call it a mark of great determination, others of stubbornness. Both are describing the same idea from two sides. It does not predict events, and it does not make a hand better or worse than any other.
How Heartmap reads a simian line
Heartmap’s AI traces the heart and head lines separately. When it finds a single crease doing the work of both, the reading says so, treats it as your signature mark, and writes the feeling and thinking sections as one story. It is entertainment, and a good one to compare with a friend whose lines run the usual way.
